TOURNEY CHAMPS The Holy Trollers Kids Fishing tournament was a long-awaited event at our house. Our church sponsors this event every year, and only kids up to age 12 are allowed to participate. We adults were relegated to baiting hooks and getting the fish off the line.

We had a great time over at the Goode's pond. About twenty kids participated. Becca was one of the first to catch a fish (third one caught overall). Of course, having his siter get the first fish made Nick glum, since he didn't get so much as a nibble for the first 30 minutes. But, he found the honey hole and ended up landing eight bream, one of which tied for biggest fish (a whopping NINE ounces). When it was all over, Nick won the trophy for Big fish and most caught, and Becca won for smallest fish (2 ounces)! Nick got a trophy, and Becca ended up with a tackle box!

MORE PETS? It started out with us looking for a pet frog for Nicolas. Instead we came how with two "Adorable kittens free to good home." Nick laid claim to the orange one (named "Ruby") and Becca fell in love with the black and white one (somehow named "Princess").

Becca and the Icky Fish
CATCHING UP. Just so you all know, we are surviving the 100+ degree summers of Burlington, NC just fine. What a wonderful person, the one who invented air conditioning! Kids are doing fine. We have gone fishing twice now. Becca caught her first fish (as you can see, she thinks it's kind of icky). A big thanks to Pete Thomas, a fellow Powerliner and native of Alamance County who knows all the shortcuts to get anywhere. Nicolas was "on" yesterday, catching 10 and rubbing it on the rest of us! He is still enjoying hunting down all the wildlife of the area: rabbits, frogs, tadpoles, minnows, and bugs.

PROJECT UPDATES. A couple of you have asked how my (Scott's) new job assignment is going, so I thought I would give you a quick update. I started my new position as coordinator of French Publications for World Literature Ministries of the Church of the Nazarene. A good chunk of my time was just getting the home office set up! Believe me, there were many days I wish I were back in Haiti where I knew where everything was! But with just a few days left to go in my first month of work, I have to say that I'm pretty well settled in. I'm working on several projects, but the two that have been taking up most of my time are the Manual project which will take about 10 months to complete and the French Lexicon an online resource to help our translators and editors puzzle out how to translate tricky English words and phrases. I've also been working a little bit on several French translation and editing projects that I brought with me from Haiti!

FINALLY, AN UPDATE. Well this is embarrassing. It has been over a month since my last post. Since then we have made the move to Burlington, NC. I began my new responsabilities on July 1st. Still a lot to sort out, but working out of the house is going to be a nice change of pace for me! Becca is a camp this week. She and Nicolas are adjusting to their new house and life in the states! Linda started working at Advanced Home Care, and she starts her classes in August!
