14/14. What a wonderful opening of a new school year. In May we accepted 14 students for this year, and by 8:30 this morning all 14 had arrived and registered. Usually we have one or two who never register, and another couple who show up late. Orientation went very well, and it looks like we have a cracker jack bunch of freshmen. One young guys holds the unofficial record for "Student with the longest name" : Nicoholson Djeff Rene Saintilma.

NYI DAY ON CAMPUS. Excitement is in the air today as we welcome the teens of Central District for sports day. The district organized the event to coincide with a national holiday that has vaudo overtones. This morning was a concert and special speakers, and the rest of the day is devoted to soccer and basketball championships. Lots of energy today!

WELCOME DOUG. It's always nice to have "Uncle Doug" back to Haiti for a couple of weeks. Doug is a mechanic from Lakeland, Florida, and he has been fixing our vehicles for years. He has his hands full this week with five vehicles (including ours!) down and waiting for his healing touch!

VOICES FROM THE PAST. It was nice to hear from Mae Samuel of Toronto. Mae is an "old" friend from our time in Montreal. We had the double pleasure of a note from another friend visiting Mae (Merlyn). Great to hear from you!

FLAC. That stands for French Literature Advisory Committee, and it was the reason Scott was able to get to the States this summer. Folks from Europe, Africa, Caribbean and the US all met to plan for future literature projects in French.

BEEN A WHILE. Yes it has been a while since we've updated this newsletter. We actually took a vacation! Yay! I had a confernce in Orlando and Linda took Becca (with Nicolas in tow) out for medical tests. We all met up again and had a great time in Orlando and South Carolina. Had a wonderful visit with my mom (Mincy Stargel), brother and other family and friends. We are back in Haiti for a while!
